Pro nung una lamang pa kami…nagka-paltos lang paa namin…kaya talo…balik kami cottage…inuman ulet…. Pero ang pinakamasaklap…wala c jhelle..sabi nya sken last week sasama daw xa, pero dir in pala…pinaasa lang ako….lintik pa naman ang ngiti ko abot tenga!!! Last March 5, 2005 ORSP help an OR congress at Abelardo Hall, College of Music in UP Diliman. The event were participated by different ORSP organizations of the Mapua Institute of Technology, Letran, DLSU, ADMU, UP Los Baños and UP Diliman. There were two events of the said OR congress. The first part was the seminar and the second part was the OR quiz show.
In the first part of the event there were two speakers for the OR Congress. The first speaker is an OR practitioner from San Miguel Corporation. He discussed about the definitions and different OR applications in SMC. I was surprised that in the industry that OR problems have millions of variables and thousands of constraints. For me, being an average student solving problems with at least with 2 variables and 2 constraints were already stressful. He told that solving complex problems were done using a powerful software in order to arrive at the the optimal solution of the problem. But still, the basics is the most important. Once we know it, applying it in a software will be easy. He also told us that there are many OR applications that can help us especially in Facilities Planning,( where to establish a warehouse in order to serve as many customer as possible) Forecasting (Quantity of product to produce in a given timespan), Statistical Analysis, Markov Analysis (exposure of products in different time slots and programs) and Decision Analysis.
He also discussed how OR is linked with Warehousing, Product/Material Distribution, Risk management, Inventory Management, Resource Allocation, Production and Planning Schedule.
He cited that OR in the Philippines is just starting unlike in other highly developed countries and in the nears future, majority of the companies in the Philippines will most like have an OR department.

The second speaker of the seminar was held by Ma. Lourdes de Guzman U. A graduate of Purdue University and she illustrated us how she applied OR on her thesis involving how to determine and differentiate Benign and Malignant Tumors. In these case OR is a “life-saver” determining the type of tumor can help doctors on what to do in the ealiest possible time in such cases. In my opinion, I was a bit sleepy in this part since I had no idea on what she is saying and she also had a hard time relating her thesis to us students. Relating to Tumors to OR? In the first place, how did she thought of that?

To sum up, both of the speakers were great and very knowledgeable about Operations Research.It encourages me to study harder, since in the future I also want to be invited in seminars to share my experiences to students and encourage them to strive harder. OR problems in the classroom and in the industry are VERY different. That’s why studying the basics is very important. OR is not only limited to solving problems, it also takes a lot of imagination in order for us to relate it to other profession, just like what Ms. Lourdes U did on her thesis.

Once upon a time there were this two cutify guys named Royd and Daryl. In that time they were 3rd year high school (St. Francis of Assisi). At their classroom they were always talking with each other about what happenened around them especially
what happened during breaktimes...

There was this problem that is always happening during breaktimes which is SECRET!!! (only for the two of them). One time they talk about it and analyzed the problem. They always asked themselves. "WHY?, WHY?, WHY?". so they decided to asked with each other! Royd said,"Why Daryl?". and Daryl said, "Why Royd?"... and they decided to do somethings and that is the SPACE!!! which means always give a big space or always be far with the girls always surrounds them so that they can protect their Dignity as a
born HTG... that was HTG history starts....

After 2 years, Daryl and Royd decided to give a chance to their friends to be a bonified HTG which will undergo with some exercises and especially hard test!!! And their was this a guy named fred which is also a friend of HTG... which
Royd and Daryl think that this a guy has a character to be an HTG. so they started to test fred for some exercices and with that fred had a hard time doing the exercices and test but he does his best and finished the exercices and test
and passed it... so that's the time that he became a bonified HTG!!!

Time goes by, they always test their friends to be an HTG. And there were this MILLIONS of applicants and only FIVE of them passed the exercices and test...
named: Armand, Rey, Adam, Lui, and Toper!!! and thats what HTG history is...
but for the people who wants to be a member of HTG.

NBA Announces Suspensions From Pistons-Pacers Game

NEW YORK, Nov. 21 -- The following suspensions were announced today by NBA Commissioner David Stern, resulting from the events during the Indiana Pacers at Detroit Pistons game on Nov. 19.

Pacers forward Ron Artest has been suspended for the remainder of the season.

Indiana guard Stephen Jackson has been suspended for 30 games.

Pacers forward Jermaine O’Neal has been suspended for 25 games.

Indiana guard Anthony Johnson has been suspended for five games.

Detroit forward/center Ben Wallace has been suspended for six games.

Pistons forwards Elden Campbell and Derrick Coleman and guard Chauncey Billups have each been suspended for one game for leaving the bench during an on-court altercation.

Indiana guard Reggie Miller has been suspended for one game for leaving the bench during an on-court altercation.
In announcing today’s actions Commissioner David Stern issued the following statement:

“The penalties issued today deal only with one aspect of this incident – that of player misconduct. Tama ang nababasa mo…semis na!!! HTG won over the PIIE (55 -50)….ang galling na pinakitang depensa,para kaming sinaniban ni Mike Enriquez, HINDI NAMIN SILA TINATANTAN!!!! Hahaha…….nagpakitang gilas c budor dahil andun si Sir Cayanan, at pinatunayan ni budor k Cuaresma..hahaha alam mo na un toL!!! Congrats sa HTG team….sana magpatuloy na to sa Finals!!!! Kung papalarin at sana matalo namin ang Klub IE!!!! Si Sir Noroña eh expected kami ang manalo??!?!?! Kooohhhh….talaga lang ha….
